Our purpose is to protect what we love, and our mission is to build purpose-driven brands that solve social and environmental problems. We help our clients increase their growth while minimizing their environmental impact by turning their sustainability achievements into powerful marketing stories. We also want to use our own business to solve environmental problems, which is why we became a 1% for the Planet Member. We feel that it is the right thing to do, and want to support nonprofits that are doing amazing work to protect what we love. As it happens, Bonefish & Tarpon Trust is certainly doing an excellent job of protecting the flats species we love, and we are thrilled to announce that Emerger Strategies has partnered with Bonefish & Tarpon Trust (BTT) by making BTT our 1% for the Planet nonprofit partner for 2018! Like many of you, I am spending the last few days of the year reflecting on 2017, and I am grateful for all that Emerger Strategies accomplished. I am also humbled to be fulfilling my dream of marrying fly fishing and sustainability and for the opportunity to work with the greatest brands in fly fishing! Here are a few highlights from 2017:

As the Holiday’s are fast-approaching, you might be wondering what to give that special someone who is a conservation-minded angler, so why not give a gift that makes an impact? We have compiled the 2017 Christmas Gifts that Make an Impact list to make it easy for you to support brands that are not only minimizing their environmental impact, but also giving back to nonprofits that are protecting what we all love…our fisheries!
Flood Tide Company is a fly fishing lifestyle apparel brand based in Charleston, SC and much of their apparel is inspired by the sporting art of Paul Puckett. In addition to original designs and great quality, Flood Tide Company is also minimizing the environmental impact of their operations, and enhancing the local fishery and waterways in the lowcountry by donating 1% of their sales to Charleston Waterkeeper. Flood Tide Company joined 1% for the Planet in early 2017 and have chosen Charleston Waterkeeper as their nonprofit partner.
I attended IFTD in Orlando a couple of weeks ago and there were tons of new products and gear. If you are an angler with a gear obsession, like me, it is heaven! Anyways, after wiping the drool off my face, I started reflecting on everything I saw. I couldn’t help but notice that many of the winners of the “New Product Showcase” awards were purpose-driven brands, and beyond that, there were companies who were proudly displaying the nonprofits they supported in their booths with clear calls to action. This was particularly interesting to me because Emerger Strategies mission is to build purpose-driven brands that inspire solutions to social and environmental problems (if you are wondering “what’s a purpose-driven brand?” Click HERE).

When I tell people that my company’s mission is to build purpose-driven brands that inspire solutions to social and environmental problems, the first question I usually receive is, “What does it mean to be a purpose-driven brand?”
We are stoked to be co-hosting ‘An Earth Day Shindig’ with our friends, Flood Tide Company on 4/20/17 at Cooper River Brewing. Since Emerger Strategies and Flood Tide Company are both 1% for the Planet members, with thought it would be a good idea to donate all proceeds to a couple of great local nonprofits: The Sustainability Institute and Charleston Waterkeeper. Both The Sustainability Institute and Charleston Waterkeeper do so much good for the Charleston community and we wanted to do our part to say thanks and give back!
